COPD Research Center in Brandon
Welcome to the COPD Research Center in Brandon, part of a leading clinical research site network in Florida. We are at the forefront of groundbreaking research to improve the lives of those affected by Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Our team is dedicated to advancing COPD treatments through clinical trials, patient care, and collaboration with other research centers.
What is COPD?
COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) refers to a group of progressive lung diseases, such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis, which cause difficulty in breathing, chronic cough, and increased mucus production. COPD can cause flare-ups, which may worsen symptoms and cause further lung damage. These flare-ups are often triggered by infections or exposure to irritants like smoke or pollution.
There is currently no cure for COPD, but early diagnosis and intervention can help manage symptoms and improve the quality of life.
Types of COPD:
Emphysema: Damage to the air sacs in the lungs, making it harder to breathe and getting oxygen into your bloodstream.
Chronic Bronchitis: Long-term inflammation and narrowing of the bronchial tubes, leading to excessive mucus and frequent coughing.
Our Focus on COPD Research
At our center, we focus on clinical research studies that explore new medications, treatments, and strategies to combat the progression of COPD. The goal is to help reduce the frequency of COPD flare-ups, improve lung function, and enhance patients’ quality of life.
Ongoing Studies:
One of the key studies we are currently conducting is the ENDURA-1 clinical trial, which seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of a biologic medication designed to reduce inflammation in the lungs and decrease flare-ups in moderate to severe COPD patients. The trial involves investigational medication administered via shots under the skin, aimed at reducing COPD flare-ups and improving overall lung health
